Excise Department

The Excise Department is a key revenue and law enforcement department of the state government, regulating the production, distribution, and sale of alcohol and other intoxicants. This department not only generates revenue for the government by collecting taxes but also ensures that alcohol is sold legally and safely. Its officials periodically inspect shops, warehouses, and factories to prevent any irregularities, adulteration, or illegal activities. Additionally, the department conducts raids against illicit liquor and prosecutes those found guilty. Digitalization has made most services online, increasing transparency and convenience.

Official Description:-

Note:- The District Licensing Authority is the District Magistrate. The District Magistrate issues most excise licenses in the district, and no other licenses can be granted without his or her recommendation. The District Magistrate also has the authority to renew excise licenses he or she has already granted.
