“Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign is envisaged from 9th August 2023 as a culminating event of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’. It is a tribute to the Veers and Veeranganas who have made the supreme sacrifice for the country.
Dedication of Shilaphalakam (Memorial)
A fundamental aspect of the program is to express heartfelt gratitude to all the bravehearts (Veers and Veeranganas) who have made the supreme sacrifice. On the Shilaphalakam, names of the bravehearts shall be inscribed. These shall include freedom fighters, defense personnel, personnel of Central Armed Police Forces and State Police who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
Shilaphalakam shall be erected locally within Panchayats/Villages as well as urban sites—likely near Amrit Sarovars or local schools or other prominent locations.
‘Panch Pran’ Pledge
At the memorial site, people will take a solemn pledge covering Panch Pran of the Hon’ble Prime Minister, affirming their commitment to the country. The pledge is given below:
We Pledge to:
- Make India developed and self-reliant by 2047.
- Remove any trace of colonial mindset.
- Celebrate our heritage.
- Strengthen unity and respect those who protect the country.
- Perform the duties of a citizen.
The District Magistrate inaugurated the “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign from the historical holy land of Baraut, Baghpat on 9 August 2023. He paid tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country and honored the families of the martyrs at primary school Balveer Vidya Mandir Nagar area, Baraut.The names of freedom fighters and martyrs who got the country’s martyrdom were recorded on the inscriptions of the schools. “Meri Maati Mera Desh”, Salute to the soil, the campaign dedicated to the heroes who sacrificed their lives for the country has been run across the country from August 9 to August 30, 2023.
District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh paid the tributes to Baoli resident soldier Jabbar Singh, who was martyred in the 1965 war, Baoli resident hero Subedar Kirti Singh, who was martyred in the 1971 war and Virendra Pal singh Tomar who was martyred in the Goa operation in 1961, resident of Lohra constable Komal Sharma and, resident of Baoli constable Anil Kumar martyred in the Kargil war. And their families were also honoured at primary school Balveer Vidya Mandir Nagar area, Baraut.
Under the “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign, the District Magistrate honored the families of Shaheed Krishnapal Singh and Shaheed Baldhar Singh by reaching village Kurdi, who sacrificed their lives to protect the freedom and pride of the motherland and unveiled the Shilafalkam and paid tribute to the brave martyrs. On this occasion, he took the oath of Panch Pran.
