Police Department
Spread over an area of approximately 243,286 square kilometers and with a population of over 200 million (as per the 2011 census), Uttar Pradesh boasts the largest single police force not only in the country but in the world. The Director General of Police of Uttar Pradesh commands a force of approximately 310,000 personnel spread across 75 districts, 33 armed battalions, and specialized cells/branches related to intelligence, investigation, anti-corruption, technical, training, criminology, etc.
The country’s current police system was shaped by the Police Act of 1861, enacted in 1860 following the recommendations of the Police Commission headed by Mr. H.M. Court. Mr. Court became the first Inspector General of Police of the North-Western Provinces and Oudh, the region that now comprises Uttar Pradesh. The police department was structured around the following eight organizations:

The Cyber Crime Portal https://www.cybercrime.gov.in/ is an online platform operated by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, to facilitate citizens in filing cybercrime complaints. This portal operates under the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre.
